Positive Coaches
Positive Coaches Alliance Workshop
Check website for information.
The parent PCA workshops have been announced.
July 27 - Double-Goal Coach I (Mid-County Soccer Club)
Sept 7 - Sports Parent (Aptos Soccer Club)
Sept 12 - Sports Parent (Santa Cruz City Soccer Club)
In addition, SV/SLV has announced that it will host another Double-Goal Coach I workshop on Aug 25th. Locations have not been announced.
This workshop explores the three stages of talent development and allows parents to share their ideas about what they want their children to get out of youth sports. Parents gain insight into the training the coaches are receiving to become "double-goal" coaches (coaches who want to both win AND develop the character of their players). The Positive Coach Mental Model, which includes topics such as Honoring the Game and Filling Athletes" Emotional Tanks are discussed. Empowering Conversations (great after a tough loss) and building a Coach/Parent Partnership are also featured. After the PCA presentation a Soccer Question/Answer period with seasoned referees explain the most misunderstood rules of the game.
